Half a century after her death, Toyen, the surrealist painter and enigmatic woman, continues to inspire admiration as well as curiosity, because until recently, little was known about much of her life. Filmmaker and writer Andrea Sedláčková, like many others, fell under the spell of this secretive artist and first dedicated a documentary film to her, followed by a book titled Toyen, the First Lady of Surrealism. Her work has just been named Book of the Year in the survey conducted by the newspaper Lidové noviny. Andrea Sedláčková also agreed to present her book on the microphone of Radio Prague International.
